On 11 April 2024, Dr. Nadia Conroy gave a guest talk entitled “Metadata in Tech; Data Practices for Software Companies” in Dr. Rubin’s Winter 2024 Thesaurus Construction and Metadata Course.“ Many thanks for sharing in such an informative and engaging fashion!

DESCRIPTION: This was a casual discussion of the different forms and processes of metadata used in software/tech environments. Whether it is part of the digital products of a company, its design practice, or documentation and storage, data (and its metadata) tells the story of a business. Its function is to serve individuals in their professional roles and in business operations. The aim is to build awareness of some common metadata applications, without a strong technical focus, and how to integrate information skills in these settings.
