A new Project, entitled “Assessments of Text-Generating AI” is a series of mini-studies (January – July 2023), thematically tied to AI evaluation text-generators like ChatGPT, Microsoft Bing AI Chatbot, Google Bard Chatbot, and others.
Project Description is here.
Project Team: Dr. Victoria Rubin (PI), Alex Mayhew, Nicole Delellis, Dominique Kelly, Sarah Cornwell, Sodiq Onaolapo, and Dr. Yimin Chen (See Students Page for researchers’ bios).
Background & Prior Research. The PI specializes in NLP (Natural Language Processing). The LiT.RL Lab’s prior research has been in NL Detection of deceptive or misleading “fakes,” like clickbait, satire, and other falsehoods. In some early works on NL Generation, we considered how recognizable AI is, as compared to the human writing, for example in human vs. machine summaries (in 2010). You can also see an early explainer on ChatBots, or Artificially Intelligent Conversational Agents in Libraries (2010).
