LiT.RL Team’s Work Profiled in Western News

On 23 March 2023, Western News, our University’s central publication for communications, published a long-form article explaining our current research plans and some past accomplishments by my team at the Language and Information Technology Research Lab (LiT.RL) at Western University, London, ON. Earlier in March, Keri Ferguson, a writer for Western Communications/Western News reporter, had an extensive interview with me on the topics of Natural Language Processing (NLP), AI, and conversational agents like ChatGPT. For this article, Keri asked me about my recent book on Misinformation and Disinformation, but she primarily focused on the Lab’s newly announced project on assessing text-generating AI capabilities. We essentially talked about “something old, something new” in our research. Following her storyline, Keri skilfully amalgamated this long conversation into an informative piece. It was illustrated with our photographs taken by Chris Kindratsky, a professional photographer at Western Communications. The team is grateful for the attention that our endeavours have received. We look forward to updating the local newsroom on how we progress with the implementation of our research plans.
