On 9 April 2024, our FIMS community and the wider Western community were invited to attend an end-of-course poster session prepared by graduate students who were enrolled in the Winter 2024 “Misinformation and Viral Deception” course. The session was themed: “‘Lies and Scams and Myths. Oh My!’ Pulling Back the Curtain on Manipulative Deceptive Behaviours: Case Studies and Preventative Strategies.” The session was fairly successful, with a good community turn-out.
The presenting students were invited to apply to show-case their work at an upcoming digital conference Digital Odyssey: “Tackling Misinformation and Disinformation: Innovations & Challenges,” is planned by Ontario Library Association (by OLITA Council). One of the OLA directors attended the poster session and extended the invitation to the entire class. Five students’ works were accepted and will be presented at the Event. Congratulations to the presenters, both in the past session and the future event, excellent work and many thanks to the OLA for extending their invitation!
