
Maria-Gorretti Aisosa Ekhorutomwen is a doctoral student in the Health Information Science program at the Faculty of Information and Media Studies, Western University. She serves as a Teaching Assistant for the Information Sources and Services course (LIS 9003) in the Fall 2024 and Summer 2025 terms. She holds a Ph.D. in Library Science and a Master’s degree in Library, Archival, and Information Studies from Nigeria, with several years of teaching, research, and professional experience in academic settings.
Her research focuses on information access, digital health, and technology integration in health, library, and information services. Specifically, her doctoral work examines the use of social media for health promotion among immigrant populations. Maria-Gorretti is also a Research Assistant and member of Dr. Rubin’s LiT.RL Lab, contributing to the project “Well-Being in Social Media: Applying Natural Language Processing Analyses to Discover Thriving Online Communities, Promote Healthier Social Media Design, and Authentic Happiness.”
